The only difference between IELTS on paper and IELTS on computer is the test-day experience. If you choose to take IELTS on a computer, you will complete the Reading, Listening, and Writing tests using a computer, and all answers will be typed on the screen.
The test format, question types, time allocated for each section, and content are the same.
The IELTS Academic test is suitable for those who want to study at a university or pursue higher education. It can also be taken for professional registration purposes.
The IELTS General Training test is suitable for those applying for work experience or other employment training. It is also required for migration to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK. This test focuses on everyday English language skills needed in social and workplace environments.
IELTS and IELTS for UKVI are exactly the same in terms of format, content, scoring and level of difficulty.
The only difference is that the IELTS for UKVI test is approved by the UK Home Office for work, study and migration purposes.
If you take an IELTS for UKVI test, your test report form will be a little different, showing that you have taken an IELTS for UKVI test at an approved IELTS test centre.
ID/Passport (same identification used for registration), a copy of ID/Passport , jacket and water in a transparent bottle.
If you are taking the morning test, you should arrive at the test centre before 8:15 AM. If you are taking the afternoon test, you should arrive before 1:15 PM. You can check your exact test time in your account or in the notification email sent 1–2 days before the test.
You need to have a passport and a student visa or work visa in Thailand valid for at least 90 days.
You cannot change the type or format of the IELTS test once you have successfully registered and made the payment.
The overall score for both IELTS and the One Skill Retake is calculated in the same way, by averaging the scores from all four sections of the test. The result is then rounded to the nearest whole or half band. Scores ending in .25 are rounded up to the next half band. Scores ending in .75 are rounded up to the next whole band.
Candidates do not need to bring a consent form on the test day, as the parent/guardian consent is already completed during the online registration process.
