Your Listening, Reading, and Writing sections of the test will be completed on the same day with no break in between. In many locations there are test sessions in the morning and afternoon. All test sessions allow social distancing. Morning sessions are usually between 9:00 and 12:00. Afternoon sessions are usually between 13:00 and 16:00.
If you take IELTS on paper, your IELTS Speaking test will take place on a different day to the other sections of the test, in a 7-day window before or after the main test day. You will receive an email confirming your Speaking test date 48 hours in advance.
You can choose your Speaking test slot whether you take IELTS on a computer or on paper.
If we need to change your slot due to unforeseen reasons out of our control, we will notify you by email or phone.

From 1 March 2024, test takers who are non-residents in Thailand will no longer be able to register an IELTS on Paper test. Non-resident IELTS test takers in Thailand may register for the IELTS on Computer test instead.
This is an IELTS partner policy and applies to all IELTS on Paper tests in Thailand delivered by the British Council and IDP Education.
We will require all non-Thai national test takers who have booked an IELTS on Paper test to provide acceptable proof of residence in Thailand, valid for at least 3 months, by email at least three days before their scheduled test date.
Acceptable proof of residence includes:
1. A valid Student Visa (stating purpose, length of visa and expiry date) stamped in the passport.
2. A valid Work Permit (2 documents) including Visa (stating status and expiry) stamped in the passport and Work Permit card (showing expiry date).
