Samuel Wilkinson, a UK’s awarding-winning designer will participate in Eco Move Project (Design Heroes for Community) - an inspiring design competition hosted by a collaboration of Office of Contemporary Art and Culture, Thailand’s Ministry of Culture and British Council. He will sit in a judging panel on competition’s final day and will give a public talk at Chulalongkorn University, Department of International Trade Promotion and Thailand Creative and Deign Centre (Chiang Mai).

Judging on Eco Move Project
Each shortlisted group will present their proposal in the morning of Saturday 27 July for Samuel’s review. There will be presentations and opportunity for questions and answers with each team.
The 3 shortlisted teams are:
1. Unknown, led by Nontawat Charoenchasri (along with 1 architect, 1 street artist, 2 product designers and 1 motion graphic designer). Their project focuses on a temporary proposal for a meanwhile space. They are working on trying to reinvent the unused space in the urban area of Bangkok into a multi - functional space which could include exhibition space, cafe, pop-up stores, graffiti works, etc.
2. Udee Meesuk, led by Sansern Milintrasutra from Bangkok University (along with 2 graphic designers, 2 product designers, 1 food designer and 1 fashion designer). Their project is “Chiangrak” which is a community of Mon (a tribe in the west of Thailand). They want to create a series new product within a community space.
3. Artchaburee, led by Wasinburee Supanich Woraparach (along with 3 artists and 2 designers).Their project is a Product Development Centre. Based on the skill and ability of the disabled and the disadvantaged ones, this team will develop the program of the centre including product design, packaging and marketing plan.

Samuel Wilkinson discusses some of his latest projects, including the award winning low energy light bulb Plumen 001, giving insight into the thinking behind each of the designs.He will illustrate his design process from the initial sketch right the way through development to a finished project, while also commenting on the importance of understanding the character and context of the object. The talk will be on Saturday 27 July 2013 at Mahajakri Sirindhorn Bld., Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University (Room 301, 3rd Fl.) at 14.00 - 16.00 hrs.
