Anglia Ruskin University is one of the largest universities in the east of England, with five faculties and six research institutes based in three campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford and Peterborough. We are proud to be a modern university with history. Our root dates back to 1858 when John Ruskin opened the Cambridge School of Art which is part of our Cambridge campus now.

The University now has over 39,000 students, including 2,700 international students of over 177 nationalities. We value our students and endeavor to provide the best quality of support to our students. Our excellent student services won the Outstanding Student Services Team in 2012 Times Higher Education Awards. Our support services to international students is recognized as amongst the best by International Student Barometer in 2013.

Anglia Ruskin University’s academic excellence has been recognized by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies in 2014, with 12 areas classed as generating world-leading research including health care, climate change and entrepreneurial management. We are academically ambitious and pride ourselves on being as enterprising as we are innovative and nurture those qualities in our students. Our courses are rated among the most intellectually stimulating in the country by National Student Survey 2015. The courses are designed with a strong focus on practicality and skill training to improve student employability. All students are provided employability supports during their study, including career advice, interview skills training as well as internship and part-time job opportunities. Our graduate has a nine out of ten chance of getting a job, a better chance than most other graduates of securing a professional job, and is likely to beat the average graduate salary, all within six months of graduation.

Catch our entrepreneurial spirit

Anglia Ruskin University has sought to promote the concept of entrepreneurship among students, staff and alumni. We are very proud to have been awarded Entrepreneurial University of the Year in the 2014 Times Higher Education Awards.

Our Centre for Enterprise Development and Research (CEDAR) is proud to be the first UK university enterprise centre to become an Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IOEE) Centre of Excellence in 2013. The knowledge, understanding and innovation gained are shared directly with our students through our enterprise training programmes, courses, events and activities, as well as through major international partnership projects. Every year CEDAR runs business start-up competitions for all students in Anglia Ruskin regardless of the subjects, with the opportunity of winning £10,000 as start-up fund. ‘Be Your Own Boss’ and ‘Getting Started In…’ are series of lectures and seminars organised to inspire and support students with their own business ideas. StartupLab is a dedicated space for our students to develop early stage business ideas with meeting rooms and office facilities free for student use, also a supportive community where our young entrepreneur students can test and develop ideas with other members and get mentoring from CEDAR professionals.

The University is one of the UK’s leading universities to offer pedagogical and academic study programmes in the area of enterprise and entrepreneurial management, with the success of MSc in Entrepreneurial Management just launched in 2015. The design of the study programmes aims at combining theory with practice by embedding the experiences of enterprising people in the design, development and delivery of the programme with the aim to provide a robust grounding in entrepreneurial management.
