National Science and Technology Fair 2014 is the biggest fair of the year in science and
technology. There are many various exhibitions and activities arranged through the
extensive cooperation from public and private, local and international sectors.
Background
In 1986, the Thai Cabinet has approved August 18th to be the National Science Day as a
commemoration of His Majesty King Rama IV who has been honored as the “Father of
Science” in Thailand. Since then, The Ministry of Science and Technology in cooperation
with other related agencies, both in the public and private sectors, has been organizing a
special annual event during this time of the year, to promote the public interests in
science and technology.
Objectives
1. To honor His Majesty King Rama IV and His Majesty King Bhumibol for Their
Majesty’s support in science and technology development
2. To disseminate information about research, development and advancement of
domestic and international science, technology and innovation
3. To promote the public awareness of science and technology
4. To encourage education and career development in science and technology
Main Activities
• Exhibition to honor King Rama IV, King Bhumibol and the Royal Family’s
great contribution in the development of science and technology in Thailand
• Exhibition on the advancement of science and technology, domestic and
international science research
• The Royal rewards ceremony of Thai distinguished scientists
• Science conferences, seminars and workshop
• Technological transfers
• Introduction of an implementation of science and technology to current and future
lifestyles
Exhibitions
• The Royal Pavilion: Displaying King Rama IV, King Bhumibol and the Royal
Family’s support and contribution in the development of science and technology
in Thailand.
• The Main Exhibition: Aiming at promoting the awareness of science on issues
that are currently relevant to the society concerns such as:
Energy for Future, Global Climate Change and Environment, Food
Crisis, Health and Medicine, Water Technology, Management
Information System, International Year of Crystal, Ice age-The
Exhibition, etc.
• MOST Pavilion:
Introduce the scientific and technological research, development and services
from 13 organizations under the Thai Ministry of Science and Technology, as the
showcase of their works and contribution to the society.
• Ministry Pavilion:
Display the use and integration of science and technology in various
governmental agencies to demonstrate its important roles in the overall progress
and development of the country
• University Pavilion:
Display university research works and study programs from departments related
to science and technology
• Science societies and associations:
Display award winning student science projects of the year and introducing
outstanding research scientists and distinguished people who make great
contribution to science and technology in the Thailand.
• International Pavilion:
Showcase the advancement in science and technology of the various countries
and presenting current scientific issues emphasizing in today’s international
arena.
