Crafting Futures supports the future of craft around the globe. This British Council programme strengthens economic, social and cultural development through learning and access. Crafting Futures’ projects support practices and people, through research, collaboration and education.

The Incubation for Young Designers on Tai Lue Textiles and Traditions is an initiative and nurturing programme to enable young designers to work with local artisans in order to revitalise Tai Lue textiles in a more engaging contemporary fashion.

Successful participants

The British Council is delighted to announce the Incubation for Young Designers on Tai Lue Textiles and Traditions. During the incubation, 6 young Thai designers from 3 fashion brands (2 persons from each brand) will have an opportunity to work with Tai Lue artisans with guidance from designers from Manchester Metropolitan University and will receive further mentorship from the UK designers over a one-month period. As a result of the incubation, participants will showcase their final design outcomes at the Crafting Futures Exhibition at Chiangmai Design Week taking place in Chiang Mai between 8th – 16th December 2018.
