New College of the Humanities

City/Town: London

Region: Greater London

NCH offers an intensive learning experience and immense opportunities for individual growth and has earned its reputation as a world-class academic institution that is leading the way in UK higher education. ‘The Times’ describes NCH as offering “bespoke higher education”.  Over the past three years, NCH has developed a reputation for delivering an unrivaled university experience.

Teaching is delivered through weekly one-to-one tutorials giving NCH “the edge on even Oxbridge’s one-to-two tutorial system in one crucial way” according to The Times (June 2015). Like all teaching at NCH, one-to-one tutorials are led by qualified, inspiring and experienced academics who have a passion for teaching and who are active in research. Among other teaching styles experienced by students during their weekly 13.5 timetabled contact hours are small group tutorials or seminars, and interactive lectures with classes of fewer than 50 students, ensuring every voice is heard and every question debated.

The College’s professoriate includes luminaries such as Professors AC Grayling (founder and Master of NCH), Simon Blackburn, Vernon Bogdanor CBE, Richard Dawkins, Sir Partha Dasgupta, Daniel C Dennett, Lawrence Krauss, Sir Christopher Ricks, and Adrian Zuckerman, all of whom both teach and contribute to the creation and development of the curriculum at the College.
