Going Global 2020: Social Distancing Edition

Due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19, the British Council has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Going Global conference which was due to take place on 29 – 30 June in London.  Read our full Covid-19 update below.

In the absence of a conference this year, we are offering a digital alternative completely free of charge throughout the month of June.  We will be hosting live virtual events, publishing blog posts and podcasts, and sharing posters which explore this year's conference theme: 'Global learners, global innovation'.

We want to continue the conversation around international higher education, especially at such a crucial time for the sector, by inviting you to take part in the activities we have planned in June.

Update on Covid-19

13 May 2020

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, the British Council has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Going Global conference which was due to take place on 29 – 30 June in London.

We appreciate this will come as disappointing news to many.  We have made this decision to protect the health and safety of our delegates, contributors and colleagues during this unprecedented time.  We would like to thank you for your understanding, and we apologise for any inconvenience this decision causes you.

Delegates and contributors who have already purchased a pass will receive a full refund.  The Going Global team will be in touch with you directly regarding this.  We thank you for your patience whilst we organise all refunds.

Although we will be unable to host this year’s conference, we are exploring alternative ways for us to continue the Going Global conversation in the absence of a physical conference. We will also continue our planning for Going Global 2021.  Be the first to hear any updates by signing-up to the Going Global newsletter and following us on Twitter.

For any immediate enquiries, please contact the team on: going.global@britishcouncil.org
