Test takers who have registered for a test up to 05 Apr 2020 can request to reschedule their test date by up to three months or take a refund through our standard processes (an administration fee will be deducted).
We have made the following exceptions for test takers who can request to reschedule their test date by up to three months or take a full refund without a deduction:
are currently in a country or place that would face quarantine on arrival in Thailand, and are therefore are unable to travel to Thailand for the test
- are under 14-day compulsory quarantine, 14-day medical surveillance or a self-quarantine order, as required by the Thai Government
- have a high temperature, persistent cough, difficulty breathing or other flu-like symptoms.

You will receive an email from our Exams Officer regarding the status of your request within five working days from the date of request.

Cancelling your IELTS test
If you cancel your IELTS test no less than five weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund minus an administration fee of 25% of the test fee.
Please note that refunds can take four to six weeks to process.
To cancel your test date, please download and complete "IELTS cancellation letter" and submit to British Council Siam Square or via email firstname.lastname@example.org. (Please note that you need to sign the form.) You can find the documents below in the download section.
If an original medical certificate confirming illness on the date of the test is provided within five working days of the test date, together with the IELTS cancellation letter, the fee is refundable, minus an administration fee of 25% of the test fee.
Only original medical certificates in Thai or English from hospital in Thailand are accepted (A certificate from clinic is not acceptable). If we have not received both required documents by the fifth working day after the test, you will be marked as absent and forfeit all claims.
Please note that we do not accept sick notes issued by family members.
Requesting a test day transfer
If you need to change the date of your test from the date you originally booked, you can request a test day transfer. Please note that the new test date must be within three months of the original date.
A test day transfer is made up to 35 days (five weeks) before the scheduled test date, the test day transfer is free of charge. A test day transfer is made up to 15 days before the scheduled test date, The test day transfer fee is THB 800. In cases of illness, transfer is possible if an original medical certificate is provided within five working days of the test date.
A valid, genuine medical certificate from a hospital in Thailand must be submitted with postponement form and 800 THB fee (Clinic certificate is not acceptable).
However, the approval will be considered by Examinations Team only.
A test day transfer can be requested only once. If you receive a transfer to a new test date (either before the test or due to illness) and are ill on the second test date, then you are not entitled to a refund of the test fee nor to any further transfer to a new test date.
